MAGICAL FARMS (Alpacas)

The largest Alpaca farm in the country was
visited on Friday afternoon and much was
learned about the Alpaca. Here the Plattner
children enjoy watching the young alpacas
romp and play. A baby alpaca had just been
born that day and was still wobbly on his feet.

Here some young alpacas enjoy chasing after one another. Alpacas are gentle by nature and have a very strong herding instinct and need the companionship of other alpacas to thrive. Their fleece is sheared once a year and yields 5 to 10 pounds - but is sold by the ounce. It would appear that alpacas could be a good place to invest some $$$. The return on the investment could/can be very lucrative.

The 'mother' alpacas were very inquisitive about the visitors but they didn't get as close to us as their offspring.
