BUSY Weekend...

This weekend I watched 'The Boys' while Mark
and Andrea went 4-wheelin'. This picture of Ben
wasn't taken this weekend...but it appears
that he's asking Grandma...
"You have that camera out AGAIN???"

Nathan was a GOOD boy for MeMa while staying at our house over night. Here Nathan fell asleep and took a nap in the living room....
The Happy TRAVELERS tell of their adventures during the Rumble on the Ridge weekend. Sounds like they had a good time...

Virginia Beach - Sept. 2006

Enjoyed a visit with Cori over the Labor Day
weekend. Even Neptune enjoyed the Labor
Day festivities at Virginia Beach!!!

Amy and I got some wading time in..
Suppertime on the beach...
Beautiful sunset at the end of a beautiful day...
Steve, Scott, Steph, Amy and Angie at Cori's pool...
I enjoyed a photo shoot with Cori on the beach...
Photo title: RELAXED!! Thanks Cori, for
sharing your home with us over Labor Day
weekend - wish you were closer and we would
show up at your door more often...
Love, Mom

Illinois Visit...August 2006

Mom and I visisted 'Blackhawk' at Lowden Park
over the weekend. While we were there - a
lady had some visitors in the park from
Chicago who had never seen the statue before.
In our family the statue is part of our heritage
as we had many reunions there with all the
'cousins' and we haunted the hiking trails
below the statue. It was always fun to run
down the trails all the way to Rock River.

Mom and I enjoyed this day together... A little work and a little play is good for the soul.
I spotted this hollow tree as we exited the park and had to take advantage of this photo opportunity. I was going to have Mom stand inside...but there were green spiders in there.... UGH.... I think Mom probably thought I was 'crazy' to ask her to stand in the tree... (Hey - I heard you say that - now be nice!!)

The Satterfield Family - At Home in Tennessee

Grandma and Grandpa Satterfield at home in Oak Grove, TN.
The Satterfield sisters: Bertha, Ina and Doris.
Stephanie received these pictures from our
cousin, Carline when Steph and Mom traveled
to Tennessee in July of this year. It looks like
Aunt Bertha was missing teeth - but it's just a
shadow.

A Visit to Holmes County...

Heather, Brad, Kenna and Kassie took a ride in an Amish Buggy. Lori, Susan and the Foster Family had waited for Steph and I to meet them at Sol's Craft Shop in Berlin for an hour... We all were there by 10:00 am - but waited on opposite sides of the building for each other and didn't know it. Steph and I contacted Uncle Dick for cell numbers for Heather and Brad, we even tried calling Uncle Darrel's cell phone and talked to 'Josh' whoever he is and found out later Darrel has a new cell phone number. On the other side of the building Aunt Lori and Aunt Susan had tried calling the Joneses to see if we were still planning to meet them in Berlin. What a day!!! Steph and I drove down to another shopping area at 11:00 am and Steph saw Lori just getting out of their van... they decided not to wait for us any longer either and take the Foster's where they could ride in an AMISH buggy.
After the AMISH buggy ride pulled by 'Shirley' we traved down the road to Walnut Creek and had lunch at DerDutchman's Restaurant and then checked out the shop in the Victorian house across the street. Here Jenna and Kenna sit in the bentwood rockers on the restaurant's porch.
Later in the afternoon Steph and I toured the country-side in the convertible with the top down and we found this cozy country road dappled with sunlight. It was a beautiful day for a ride.

Visiting Family!!!

Kenna and Nathan had a good time playing together at Uncle Darrel's and Aunt Lori's. McKenna will be a flower girl in a wedding in Hartville on Saturday.
Mark, Nathan, Ben and I visited with 'The Brinkers', Susan, and the Foster family on Thursday night in Massillon. A supper of pizza and salad was enjoyed by all along with several yummy dessert selections.
(Dale had to work overtime and couldn't join us and neither could Andrea, who had a migraine headache that evening.)

on 7/29/06 with many friends and family in
attendance. Congratulations Anna and Brian!!!

The wedding party and the decorated Jaguar 850 that Anna & Brian took for a short ride after the wedding.

Anna's beautiful bridesmaids..Rachel, Esther and Naomi!! (Anna's sister's)

** JUBILEE **

We celebrated Jubilee's 1st Birthday Friday evening and let her 'dive' into her birthday cake - she was slow to start - but after she got a taste of the frosting...she soon had cake and frosting everywhere!!
No smile..but what a cutie...
Here Jubilee rode Grandma's goose...'giddy-up go'

MAGICAL FARMS (Alpacas)

The largest Alpaca farm in the country was
visited on Friday afternoon and much was
learned about the Alpaca. Here the Plattner
children enjoy watching the young alpacas
romp and play. A baby alpaca had just been
born that day and was still wobbly on his feet.

Here some young alpacas enjoy chasing after one another. Alpacas are gentle by nature and have a very strong herding instinct and need the companionship of other alpacas to thrive. Their fleece is sheared once a year and yields 5 to 10 pounds - but is sold by the ounce. It would appear that alpacas could be a good place to invest some $$$. The return on the investment could/can be very lucrative.

The 'mother' alpacas were very inquisitive about the visitors but they didn't get as close to us as their offspring.

4-Wheelin' with Mark

The Plattner's enjoyed sitting on Mark's
4-Wheeler Friday evening and then the
'boys' took a ride.

Jesse was enjoying riding tandum with daredevil 'Mark'. Here they are sitting on the 4-Wheeler in the middle of Chippewa Creek. Our neighbor, Scott, allowed Mark to use his 'machine' too. Thanks Scott!!
Here Chad is driving through the waters with Javan & Jared. Hold on boys!!
LauraLee, Jolene and I watched the guys from the bridge and Jolene enjoyed throwing rocks into the water (while the boys weren't there, of course). Later a train came through and we watched in amazement the power and speed of the locomotive. All the children had to cover their ears it was so loud. It was a fun event - even though we had to prepare with a lot of bug spray - the mosquitos were looking for their supper :)

The Barn...

Grandma Brinker holding Baby Ben at the Barn!!

until the train started running and I heard
Nathan say "TRAIN" and I was too late to
get a good picture of Nathan sitting on the
tractor.. That little stinker :o)

wedding. Happy Birthday Jubilee ***

Andy & Alisa

We enjoyed having Andy and Alisa with us
for the Fourth of July in Mt. Morris. The
Behren's family traveled the furthest for
the festivities: Sally and Al from the OK
state, Andy from New York City and Alisa
from Dallas. So glad your family was
there to share the FUN with us :o)

Jared Celebrates 5th Birthday!!!!!

We celebrated Jared's 5th Birthday at
Grandma Brinker's house and Jared
was quite pleased with his new GeoTrax
Trains. (Jared's birthday is actually
July 15th - but we didn't think he'd mind
getting his gift early from Grandma and
Grandpa Riley) A small piece of carpet
was placed on the floor of the garage so
Jared could play with his newest toy.
HAPPY * BIRTHDAY * JARED !!!!!

Enjoying the Parade!!

Nathan enjoyed the 4th of July parade
and waving the flag. Notice how rosie
his cheeks were due to the heat. That
didn't stop him from picking up all
the candy and bubble gum that was
thrown his way - and much was thrown!!

Nathan Waters Grandma's Flowers

Nathan really enjoys watering flowers at
Grandma Riley's house so I suggested he
water Grandma Brinker's flowers. He
loves anything to do with water - even the
water balloons that came out later.

The Plattner Clan * * * * *

Jolene, LauraLee and Jubilee posed for
a picture after church... This was easier
than trying to get everyones attention
for a picture of all 7 Plattners.

Chad, Jared, Jesse and Javan share a laugh!!

The Davis Family...

Kristi, Sheila, Mandy and Drew take a break
at 'Grandma's' house. During the holiday
weekend Kristi's college graduation was
celebrated. Congratulations Kristi!!!
